Do you feel like giving up? I urge
you to keep moving forward even if you don’t feel like it. Scientists have
proven the power of persistence through an experiment. A one-ton ball was
suspended from the ceiling next to a suspended cork. An electrical
mechanism kept the cork swinging back and forth, gently bouncing against the
iron weight.
After many days of pounding by the
cork, the researchers noticed the iron ball moving ever so slightly. The cork
continued to knock against it until the heavy ball eventually swung widely back
and forth. No one would have believed that a cork could move an iron ball, but
it did! And the only reason was the little cork kept pounding away and wouldn't
stop.
It’s so easy to quit when we we’re
facing a difficult situation. Most people quit before the answer comes and the
miracle occurs. The Bible clearly teaches the power of being persistent. The
Canaanite woman received her miracle because she continued to pursue Jesus when
circumstances told her to stop (Matt. 15:22-28). Jesus specifically told us to not
quit praying even when nothing seems to be happening (Luke 18:1-8). The apostle
Paul told us to not quit doing good because we will reap if we don’t give up
(Gal. 6:9).
Are you the little cork facing the
iron ball? Don't give up! Keep pounding away. If you will keep knocking
you will soon see your situation change. Persistence is the most overlooked way
to receive God’s blessings.
