Life After Death

One day your heart will stop beating. At that moment, your soul will leave your body (James 2:26) and you will spend the rest of your never-ending existence in the next world. What happens to you in the next life will have already been determined in this life. The decisions you make during your life on Earth will determine two things in the next world: Your eternal destination and your eternal occupation (if you are saved).

Your eternal DESTINATION. When you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, your eternal destination will be heaven. "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become the children of God" (John 1:12).

Your eternal OCCUPATION. Everyone wants to go to heaven, but no one thinks about what we will be doing there for millions and millions of years. Your faithfulness in serving God after you have been saved will determine your POSITION in heaven, your REWARDS in heaven, and your JOB ASSIGNMENTS in heaven.

We will "serve Him" forever (Rev. 7:15, 22:3), which means we will have job assignments. These will be privileges, like eternal hobbies, and not like work on Earth.

We will have different ranks in heaven because "many who are first shall be last, and the last, first" (Matt. 19:30). Some who are generals in this life will be privates in the next life. Some who are privates in this life will be generals in the next life. These positions will be determined by humility and faithful service. Which will you be?

If we are faithful in handling our money on Earth, we will be put in charge of something called "true riches" in heaven (Luke 16:11). This isn't figurative language. There really is treasure in heaven and the most faithful stewards on Earth will get to manage it in eternity.

How can you make your life count for eternity? By living to please the Lord in all that you do. To hear the entire message on this subject, go to:
